If this were an actual blog that anyone actually read, I would be the worst blogger ever.
I have not had much to blog about lately, so I guess it's better that I stay away than filling perfectly good internet space with my random babbling.
School is almost over and I could not be more happy.
So I realize this is the second post I've made about these people, but this one is definitely more serious than the last.
I don't know how widely this story has reached, but it has definitely saturated the media here. Everyone in town has pretty much been effected by this story. In the last couple of months we have had several sexual assaults around campus. This is not necessarily unusual (or so I hear) for a college campus, but it is nonetheless scary because it hits so close to home. A man has been attacking young women at night who are walking alone either to class or to their car.
On January 20th, a young woman was abducted from her friends house in the middle of the night. The last anyone had seen her was earlier in the night when she was passed out on the couch in the living room. Apparently, the abductor came into the house from the unlocked door right near where this girl was sleeping. There were very few clues as to who abducted her. All anyone knew was that it was likely her abduction was connected to at least two other sexual assaults. Last Friday, they found her body in a field about 8 miles from where she was last seen.
This is understandably sad for the family of this young woman, but also the surrounding community who has been involved in the search for her. I think we all hoped she would be found and returned home. This unfortunately is not the case.
I have been reluctant about posting anything about this because I haven't been too sure how I felt about it and wasn't sure if I could write my feelings down. I am obviously saddened by this event, but also very much fearful for what comes next. This guy is still out there and I still have to attend the school where he prowls.
Anyway, now the West Baptist Church is getting involved and I am absolutely disgusted. The family has enough to deal with without having to deal with religious fanatics. http://www.godhatesfags.com/written/fliers/20080216_brianna-denison-corrupt-reno-police.pdf What they are angry about is so stupid. They were protesting a funeral of a soldier here in town and several community members as well as the Patriot Riders surrounded them and blocked them from being seen. The Reno Police of course, did nothing to prevent the people from surrounding them (even though there was no violence). So, now the Phelps clan is blaming the Reno Police for this young woman's death. Yeah, that is SOME logic.
made me violently ill. Someone needs to tell JJ Abrams that Godzilla + The Blair Witch Project is not only unoriginal, but quite sickening. The storyline probably would have been interesting and easier to follow if I wasn't staring at the ground for half of the movie trying to prevent myself from puking all over the place.
The seventh season of "American Idol" premieres tonight. Will you be watching, or are you over it?
The only part of American Idol that I truly like to watch is the auditions. Always have. I just can't believe how many people think they are good enough for a record contract, but are actually REALLY awful. I can understand people who are somewhere in between, but seriously, if animals scatter when you sing you are not going to be the next American Idol. No.
Other than that, I pretty much avoid watching it all together. However, this year with the writers strike, I may be forced to since nothing else is on.
Some people apparently find this offensive, but I've always found this guy funny.
A more substantial post later.
What are you saving up for?

Honestly, I am just trying to afford law school. So far that effort is not going so well. I work part-time as an office assistant and get paid what you would expect for a bitch-for-hire. I need to look into getting a paid internship; one for the experience and two for the cash.
I try to put a little bit away every month, but school (i.e. tuition and books) seems to keep my savings account stagnant.
I think I have found my new favorite show -- How to Look Good Naked. Not only is it fabulous because of my favorite gay Carson Kressley, but it sends a really good message about women and self perception. It is amazing watching what women think of themselves, regardless of what other people say to the contrary. Even more interesting, when women have to measure themselves against other women. Girls, what the hell is wrong with us? Why are we so negative? It's also just a fun time because Carson is a hoot. I highly recommend this show to everyone.
I'm not sure I will be able to get out of my garage Monday morning. They are estimating that we have anywhere from 10"-14" of snow ... and it's still snowing. We hardly ever get snow and it's usually only a dusting when we do. Hello ... where did this come from? My little Kia is not going to be able to get over the snow.
I've never been one much for cleaning. I'm pretty much convinced that I would be the worst housewife ever; I hate doing dishes, vacuuming, etc. My idea of cleaning as a child was pushing everything under my bed or in my closet. "What?!?! You said you wanted me to clean everything off of the floor. I don't see anything on the floor." However, now I have this intense desire to clean EVERYTHING. I don't know what is going on with me. Even my mother thinks I am possessed because I am getting on her case about cleaning. It's quite strange.
So, I suppose since I can't get my car out of the garage (we got 6"-8" of snow last night with more expected today) I will indulge this rare desire to clean. At least my house will be clean and free of Christmas decorations.

I adore carson! I haven't seen the show, but I saw him on GMA promoting it and it seems like... read more
